Welcome to the Systemic Effects of Metabolic Disease Hub!
Our mission is to catalyze innovative metabolic disease research across Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center by building research synergies within our institution. We aim to 1) foster collaborations across scientific disciplines and across institutional divisions and departments, 2) promote learning and mentorship opportunities, and 3) advocate for our Hub members to optimize our research environment. Our goal is to advance cutting-edge research in the field of metabolic diseases that will lead to innovative new biomedical discoveries and therapies that benefit patients and allow our research community to grow and thrive.
We do this by building connections within the Systemic Effects of Metabolic Disease Hub, with other Hubs, local institutions such as the Joslin Diabetes Center, Boston Children’s Hospital and with Industry. The Hub promotes the use of Research Core Facilities and seeks to build new resources together. Our work includes an institutional biorepository in partnership with the other Hubs and local funding agencies. We also organize symposia, targeted seminars, and networking events to showcase metabolic disease research at BIDMC and the broader research community.
