Sadhguru Center

Enhancing Consciousness, Cognition, and Compassion

The Sadhguru Center for a Conscious Planet is a multidisciplinary research center focused on understanding the relationship between human consciousness, cognition and compassion. The Sadhguru Center is based in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. The Center faculty work closely with our colleagues across the Harvard Medical School system. The Center conducts rigorous research, facilitates thoughtful conversations and exploration, and builds awareness through education and community outreach.

The overarching goal of the Sadhguru Center is to improve the health of BIDMC patients and the broader community through scientific research by: (1) expanding human consciousness, cognition, and compassion; (2) creating medical and contemplative interventions to reduce cognitive decline and accelerate recovery after surgery and critical illness; (3) using mindfulness techniques to enhance well-being; (4) promoting collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues and the public; and (5) educating the community about best practices.
