Biorepository

This project aims to establish a repository of biosamples in patients with varying neurologic disorders. The proposed biorepository aims to collect a variety of high-quality biosamples and relate them to clinical information to support the accelerated identification of disease biomarkers for earlier diagnosis and identification of targets for treatment in various neurologic conditions. These biospecimens include collecting and storing whole blood (including DNA and RNA extraction and PBMC isolation), plasma, saliva, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and other emerging biological sample types. In future iterations of this research, we want to include banking of tissue such as skin, muscle, brain, and other samples.

The long-term goal of the biorepository is to provide deep molecular profiling (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, among others) on all the BIDMC participants in the Department of Neurology.
