Matthew Massaad is a research student working in Dr. Pettinato's Lab studying the differentiation of intestinal and pancreatic organoids. His work focuses on testing the fibrogenic ability of intestinal organoids in response to Crohn’ patient’s derived conditioned media. The model will enable the potential of developing a predictive in vitro tool for patients with early-stage Crohn’s disease.

He is also focusing on the differentiation of pancreatic organoids to be used as Type 1 Diabetes treatment, as well as to study cystic fibrosis in the contest of pancreatic in vitro models.
