The standard approach to sharing images is to make full copies of the image files and send them via ftp, email attachment, scp, or some other approach. With OMERO you have several far simpler options.
- Individual images can be shared with other OMERO users by using the "share" utility.
- Images are implicitly shared by all members of an OMERO group. Within the members of a group you can share images, plates, projects, and datasets with simple URLs that can be pasted into email.
- Datasets and plates may be put into a public group and share with anyone in the world using a simple URL.
- Images in a public group can be embedded into web sites of your own design without having to copy, convert, or resize the images. All aspects of how the image is displayed is controlled through a simple API.
