There are three important steps in getting started using OMERO.
- Activate your OMERO login
- Download and install the necessary software
- Import data into OMERO
The following expands upon these steps.
Activate your OMERO login
To activate your OMERO login simply go to https://omero.hms.harvard.edu/webclient/login/ and login with your eCommons credentials. Please enter your eCommons ID using lower case letters. Once you login you will not see much since you don't have any data in OMERO. You cannot use the OMERO web site to upload data into OMERO. That is potentially insecure. You need to download the Java web client software. See step 2 below on how to do this.
Download and install the necessary software
Most users will import data into OMERO using OMERO.insight, a Java client for OMERO. Instructions of installing OMERO.insight can be found on the openmicroscopy.org web site. To get OMERO.insight DO NOT download the open source version. Instead go to the software link above and download and install the HMS customized version for the platform you are using. Otherwise, the installation instructions apply.
Import data into OMERO
Guides for using OMERO.insight are maintained on the openmicroscopy.org website. Go to Adding image data for instruction on how to import data into OMERO.
