Dr. Qiu is a molecular neuroscientist with a genomics background. Dr. Qiu’s primary interest is to develop and employ genomic tools to determine how traumatic or vascular brain injuries lead to cognitive impairment and dementia. Work with the Zeidel lab involves use of integrative systems neuroscience approaches to understand how traumatic brain injury in the prefrontal cortex perturbs the caudal brain regions and leads to incontinence. This project is an effort to expand the scope of neurodegenerative and clinical phenotypes we can mimic and study in mouse models.
