Sleep and Lighting Effects Study

Help us advance sleep research by participating in the LEO research study! The purpose of this study is to learn more about how you respond to sleep loss, including how you feel and perform on tests when your sleep and wake timing are controlled in a laboratory under different lighting conditions.

If you are:

  • between ages 18-40
  • healthy
  • not taking any medications, non-smokers, non-shift workers
  • able to maintain a regular sleep schedule

Please complete the survey linked here to help determine if you might be eligible to participate in this study. A research coordinator will be in touch with you if you are eligible for further screening.

Participation includes:

  • a three-week screening process with 2-3 visits
  • at-home sleep and activity monitoring for 1 week
  • a 7-night, 8-day inpatient stay at BIDMC
  • up to 2 MRI scans
  • payment of $2,420 upon completion of the entire study
