Our Focus:

The Confianza Collaborative's research is organized around three core pillars: trust, immigration, and language access.
Through community-engaged research, we examine how these factors influence maternal healthcare experiences and identify opportunities to improve equity and access.

Trust
  • We study how trust influences patient–clinician relationships and develop strategies to strengthen communication, engagement, and the quality of care.

One example of this work is the development and validation of the Confianza Scale, created by Dr. Molina and the Confianza Collaborative to measure trust between Spanish-speaking patients and their physicians.

Immigration
  • We study how immigration policies and social determinants of health affect access to maternal healthcare and maternal health outcomes. Our research aims to better understand these barriers and inform approaches that promote equitable care for immigrant communities.
Language Access
  • We advance equitable healthcare by improving communication between patients and clinicians and promoting meaningful language access for individuals with limited English proficiency.
