HMS Students- Applications are open for summer research opportunities at BIDMC!!!

We are excited to share next steps in the application process and timelines for the 2025 Shapiro Scholars- HMS Summer Research program. As a reminder, this program is a structured opportunity to match you with Mentors in an area of interest to carry out a full-time, 8-week summer 2025 research opportunity at BIDMC!

Projects will continue to be submitted by Principal Investigators and added to the BIDMC Office of Student Engagement and Experience- HMS Summer Research (Shapiro Scholars) webpage between now and February 2025. At this time, projects that are currently on the webpage (and that were featured at the Networking Night) are available for applications.

If there are projects that interest you, we highly suggest that you apply as they are available. You will have the opportunity to rank your top 3 projects of interest on the application.

If you are interested in areas not listed/or without a formal project, please reach out to us. We will connect you with Faculty that may be able to help you explore and/or secure summer opportunities.

In addition to completing the application, please email your CV to Ethan Selinger, Program Director for the Office of Student Engagement and Experience, at eselinge@bidmc.harvard.edu. Your CV will be shared with the Principal Investigator for review. Our hope is to have an answer for you within two weeks, but if there are delays, we will let you know.

If you are matched, you will receive an official offer letter that specifies the Department, Mentor, project description, project dates, next steps, and a signature line if you choose to accept. The Department will supply half of your funding, but you will be responsible for applying for and securing summer funding from the HMS Office of Scholarly Engagement (OSE). You must apply by the March 31st deadline to be eligible for the summer research opportunity.

If you apply and are not matched with any of the projects in your top 3, you will have the opportunity to continue applying as new projects become available.
