HMS Summer Research- Shapiro Scholars Program

The BIDMC Office of Student Engagement and Experience, in collaboration with the Shapiro Institute for Education and Research, is excited to present Shapiro Scholars, a program designed to connect HMS students between their first and second years, to carry out sponsored research at BIDMC.

Through this Program, BIDMC Departments and Research Labs have the opportunity to host and mentor HMS students, or scholars, to promote their growth and development as researchers and with the hope of paving the way for longer term relationships between participating Departments and students. Depending on the interests of the students, supplementary clinical learning experiences in simulation and the medical ICU may also be offered.

The Shapiro Institute and BIDMC Office of Student Engagement and Experience administer the Program and provides support to HMS students, PIs and Departments. The Offices also host didactic, professional development and community building events for the cohort of students.
