Information for Program Partners

The BILH Office of Student Engagement and Experience (OSEE) serves as the centralized office overseeing student research initiatives and administrative processes across BIDMC. We are proud to work with organizations that place students in research laboratories throughout the medical center. The OSEE collaborates with key stakeholders and supports the operational processes that enable partner organizations and research mentors to create valuable and meaningful research experiences for students.

A core component of BILH/BIDMC's research strategic plan is to position the medical center's research enterprise as a leader in developing future physicians, scientists, and educators.

By working centrally with institutions and programs, the OSEE plays a pivotal role in expanding access to research opportunities for students of all academic levels and backgrounds. This approach helps advance BIDMC's strategic goals while ensuring clear planning, effective resource stewardship, and a positive experience for all stakeholders.

The OSEE works to ensure:

  • Preliminary meetings to understand the goals and objectives of each program as they relate to academic research.
  • Proactive outreach to identify and engage researchers across the medical center who are interested in mentoring students.
  • A smooth and transparent onboarding process, including providing students with the materials and information they need to begin their experience, fostering proactive communication among all parties, and offering ongoing support and guidance throughout the placement.
  • A dedicated central point of contact available throughout the duration of the partnership and student experience.
