Application Process and Timeline

 

BIDMC-Shapiro Scholars is an 8-week program at BIDMC for HMS students searching for summer research opportunities between their first and second years of study.  BIDMC Principal Investigators (PIs) act as Mentors, providing you with an opportunity to work on research problems in an area of interest.

If you are interested in participating in this Program, you are expected to learn more about the PIs participating as Mentors. The “Participating PIs/ Departments” section of this webpage includes information on each Mentor, their research interests, and the research projects you will have an opportunity to work on.

PIs and projects will be added to (and removed from) to the "Participating Principal Investigators (constantly updated)" page (left-hand menu option) and are available on a first come, first serve bases.

You can apply using the link below . You will have the opportunity to select your top 3 project opportunities, and/or submit topics of interest that are not currently available.

Once you apply, your CV will be shared directly with the mentor, with you copied on the email.

The application deadline for this program is February 28th, 2027.

Applicants will be matched with PIs throughout October 2026- March 2027 on a rolling basis.  Please note that while we cannot guarantee matches, if you apply we will do our best to find an opportunity for you.

The Summer 2027 Program dates are May 31st, 2027- July 23rd, 2027
