Emily Zhao, originally from Houston, Texas, is a junior at Boston University studying Human Physiology. She has previously conducted research at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she studied the effects of PARP inhibitors on breast cancer cell lines and gene knockdown and overexpression of the TRPS1 gene, a specific breast cancer marker.

In addition to her research endeavors, Emily is actively involved in volunteer work, such as volunteering at Brigham and Women’s Hospital through the Medical Career Exploration Program where she transports and assists visitors with questions.

After completing her undergraduate studies, Emily plans to attend medical school with the ultimate goal of becoming a physician, where she aims to make a meaningful impact on patient care and medical research.
