Career Development

Growing independent and competent physicians is the primary goal of this residency. We support residents interested in pursuing all manner of careers, in research, industry and clinical care. We believe this development starts from the very first day of intern year. Each intern is paired with a faculty mentor within their firm and a longitudinal primary care preceptor at the beginning of their residency. These mentors meet with each intern at least twice over the course of each academic year to provide guidance and mentorship in many arenas including research and clinical development. Over the course of residency, many will identify their own mentors within their areas of interest, but they all maintain their longitudinal preceptors throughout.

In subsequent years, residents are able to apply for dedicated time to focus on their area of concentration. This can take many forms depending on the resident’s interest, though many use this time to build their research portfolios or work on educational projects. Any scholarly interest can be considered for this protected time.
