In a career where balancing work and life can be challenging, our residents find ways to engage with one another recreationally and the surrounding community. Many residents build lasting friendships with their peers. We pride ourselves on our culture of collegiality and support for one another, which extends outside the hospital too. Each week our interns choose a new restaurant or bar in Boston to explore while on their primary care weeks. Residents and interns participate in community work including a yearly Fall 5K and Holiday toy drive. Throughout the year, residents participate in Monday morning brunch after a week on nights together.
Boston offers a walkable city with many opportunities to explore, whether outside at the Boston Commons or the Esplanade, new restaurants and bars, or a quick city escape to the surrounding White Mountains or coastal beaches. BIDMC is located in the Longwood medical area, a safe neighborhood and convenient to Fenway, Brookline and Jamaica Plain where many of our residents choose to live.
