The Center for Trainee Affairs (CTA) aims to foster an inclusive, respectful, supportive, and empowering environment for all trainees within the Department of Medicine. The CTA promotes trainee well-being, professional and career development, mentorship, and community-building by coordinating resources, supporting groups, and encouraging initiatives that engage and interest all members of our learning community.

Six Domains of Flourishing
The Center for Trainee Affairs aims to strengthen resident and fellow well-being across the six domains of flourishing:
Happiness and Life Satisfaction, Mental and Physical Health, Meaning and Purpose, Character and Virtue, Close Social Relationships, Financial and Material Stability
Professional, Career & Personal Development
- Develop and facilitate mentorship programs available to all residents and tailored to meet each individual residents educational needs, professional interests, life experiences, and career stage.
- Connect trainees with faculty mentors and peer support structures.
- Host regular workshops, noon conferences, and educational events on topics such as navigating training, work/life integration, career planning, and academic advancement.
- Provide leadership opportunities for trainees to participate in shaping CTA initiatives and programming.
Community Building & Belonging
- Serve as an umbrella structure to support and coordinate existing and emerging trainee-led groups.
- Community outreach, volunteerism, partnership and advocacy with organizations in the greater Boston area.
- Promote cross-program and cross-role community through events, communication, and partnerships.
Support & Resources
- Centralize access to support services as currently offered through the Internal Medicine Residency Program, Department of Medicine Fellowship Programs, and the GME office.
- Offer wellness programming aligned with department values and trainee-identified needs.
