Arthroplasty

Division overview

Our Arthroplasty surgeons are engaged in a variety of research projects regarding hip and knee replacement. Areas of study include preoperative optimization, intraoperative techniques, prevention and treatment of periprosthetic infections, and biomechanical testing. We participate in national multi-center clinical trials and welcome new collaborations that push forward arthroplasty research.

Title: A randomized study of dietary salt administered to arthroplasty patients to prevent symptomatic post-operative orthostatic hypotension (POH) prior to physical therapy (Salt Study)

Objective: To determine whether high-salt food, such as chicken broth, allows patients to better participate in physical therapy while in the hospital.

Principal Investigator: Jacob Drew, MD
