Leadership
The Harvard Thorndike Electrophysiology Institute (HTEI) is led by a dedicated team within the Section of Electrophysiology, under the direction of Andre d’Avila, MD (far right). An internationally renowned clinician, teacher, and researcher, Dr. d’Avila specializes in the mapping and ablation of complex atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. In addition to leading HTEI, he serves as director of the VT Center and the Cardiac Arrhythmia Service at BIDMC, and maintains a part-time role as a consulting electrophysiologist at Hospital Cardiológico de Florianópolis in Brazil. Alongside his colleagues there, he helped pioneer the field of epicardial ablation and played a key role in introducing this technique to the United States. Dr. d’Avila has authored more than 200 original scientific articles and 20 book chapters. Learn about our team here.
