Research During Fellowship

Fellows are required to perform an original research project during their fellowship. They are allotted a minimum of 12 weeks of cumulative research time over the course of their fellowship. As part of fellowship training, they are also required to participate in a quality improvement projects.

Examples of current and planned research include:

  1. Mechanisms underlying atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia
  2. Electrocardiographic markers of risk for sudden death
  3. Improving outcomes of device implants
  4. Improving risk stratification for sudden death
  5. Improved ablation methods for atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia including radiation and electroporation
  6. Improved methods for surgical approaches to cardiac arrhythmias
  7. Novel treatment of sleep apnea as a modifier of arrhythmic risk
  8. Identification of prognostic factors for cardiac pacing surrounding TAVR
  9. Identifying mechanisms of pacing-induced cardiomyopathy
  10. Identifying predictors of response to conduction system pacing
