Fellows are required to perform an original research project during their fellowship. They are allotted a minimum of 12 weeks of cumulative research time over the course of their fellowship. As part of fellowship training, they are also required to participate in a quality improvement projects.
Examples of current and planned research include:
- Mechanisms underlying atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia
- Electrocardiographic markers of risk for sudden death
- Improving outcomes of device implants
- Improving risk stratification for sudden death
- Improved ablation methods for atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia including radiation and electroporation
- Improved methods for surgical approaches to cardiac arrhythmias
- Novel treatment of sleep apnea as a modifier of arrhythmic risk
- Identification of prognostic factors for cardiac pacing surrounding TAVR
- Identifying mechanisms of pacing-induced cardiomyopathy
- Identifying predictors of response to conduction system pacing
