Omar Trad, MD

PGY-2

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I first moved to the east coast in 2015 when I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!), where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Public Health in Health Policy and Management from the Gillings School of Global Public Health and minored in Chemistry. I then spent a year after graduation back home teaching a health and wellness course to the Men’s Recovery Program at Union Rescue Mission, a program dedicated to supporting the unhoused of LA and those with substance use disorder. I made my way back to the east coast to start medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine, where I firmly established my passion for internal medicine and medical education.

Heading into interview season, I wanted to find a residency program that would not only shape me into a fantastic clinician but also an excellent clinician educator. I knew after my first day of residency that BIDMC was the perfect fit. As housestaff, we receive world class clinical training from attendings who are global leaders in their field, most of whom are equally passionate about teaching and working with our residents. Yet despite its reputation for excellence and prestige, the culture here at BIDMC is what truly distinguishes it from the rest. I feel so lucky to go to work everyday with some of the kindest, smartest, and most compassionate people that care as much about the wellbeing of each other as they do their patients.

In my free time, you can often find me exploring new Boston restaurants and coffee shops with my close friends and family. A SoCal boy at heart, I also love the ocean and have spent many summer hours venturing up and down the New England coast exploring new beaches and flopping on the sand.
