Rohan Bhat, MD

PGY-1

I grew up in the suburbs north of Boston and then made my way down into the city for college at Northeastern University. I studied bioengineering in undergrad and had the opportunity to work in both medical device development and basic science research while still in college. However, I found I was more passionate about clinical medicine than engineering or research alone. After graduating from Northeastern, I worked in heart failure and exercise physiology research at Massachusetts General for two years and found myself fascinated by the physiology in cardiovascular medicine.

I left Boston to attend UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, MA. During medical school I worked on research focused on out of hospital cardiac arrest survival and educational initiatives in the community about bystander CPR. I was thrilled and humbled to match at BIDMC for residency and have the chance to come back to Boston to join a program with such a strong emphasis on training excellent clinicians. I am thoroughly enjoying my rigorous and broad internal medicine training but intend to pursue a career in cardiology.  Outside the hospital, you’ll find me cycling, hiking, and swimming in the warm weather or taking a day trip to Vermont to go skiing in the winter. I also love trying new coffee shops and bars in the city with friends and brainstorming destinations for my next vacation block.
