Chen-Hsiang Kuan

Dr. Chen-Hsiang (Sean) Kuan is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon-scientist at National Taiwan University Hospital and a clinical faculty member in the Department of Surgery. He completed his medical degree and plastic surgery training at National Taiwan University and holds a PhD in Clinical Medicine. Dr. Kuan’s clinical expertise includes microsurgical reconstruction, complex wound management, and scar modulation. His research focuses on skin regeneration, wound healing, and regenerative biomaterials, integrating mechanobiology, immunomodulation, and advanced imaging. He has published in leading journals including Nature, Cell Metabolism, Developmental Cell, Journal of Investigative Dermatology, and Biomaterials, and is supported by competitive national research grants. Dr. Kuan is also actively involved in resident education and surgeon-scientist training.
