Research Student Orientation (Begin Here)

Welcome to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center! As a research student here, you have much to learn and will likely have many questions. This Orientation will provide you with a great starting place to get answers to many questions and help prepare you for a successful experience at BIDMC.

You will find that your manager, co-workers, and the BIDMC Office of Student Engagement and Experience are great resources for you.

You will navigate this Orientation using the left bar menu. The Orientation is broken down into the following sections:

1. Beginning your Onboarding

2. BIDMC & Research Trainings

3. Making the most of your research experience

4. Verification of completion

All of the necessary documents are hyperlinked throughout the Orientation. There is also a section that compiles all of the Orientation documents into one place for easy access. However, you are expected to review the Orientation content in its entirety.

Before proceeding to Section 1- Beginning your Onboarding, please review and Research Student Onboarding Expectations (also shared in the "welcome email"), and sign the Research Student Orientation Agreement

By signing the Research Student Orientation Agreement, you agree to:

  • Complete this Orientation by reviewing all required onboarding materials and trainings.
  • Complete any additional position-specific trainings indicated by your Supervisor and PI (e.g., bloodborne pathogens training). More information is included in Section 2 - Trainings of this Orientation.
  • Reach out to Ethan Selinger/the Office of Student Engagement and Experience (OSEE) team if you have any questions about this Orientation or if you have any trouble picking up your ID badge and/or receiving your credentials.

Once you have completed these steps, you can proceed to Section 1- Beginning your Onboarding
