Fellowship Programs
About Our Programs
The Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center offers outstanding fellowship programs in all areas of anesthesia care. We produce clinicians superbly trained for clinical practice and impart the skills to build successful academic careers. We attain this level of excellence because of the depth of talent in our clinical faculty, our commitment to continuous improvement in our teaching methods, and generous and dedicated mentoring of each of our trainees.
Our fellows have access to the rich repertoire of resources available in our department. This includes state-of-the-art clinical medicine, ample opportunities to teach medical students and residents, and the variety and complexity of clinical cases available at our Harvard-Medical School affiliated hospital in the center of the historic and diverse city of Boston. Our trainees can also collaborate with our highly successful research investigators who publish in top journals in their fields.
The department has established two research centers of excellence. The Center for Medical Education, Technology and Innovation is a group of educators who conduct studies aimed at investigating novel teaching and learning techniques. The Center for Anesthesia Research Excellence offers guidance and support for investigators throughout their research projects, from idea generation through publication. Of course, the heart of our fellowship training programs is our clinical expertise, including national and world-renowned clinicians committed to training the next generation of leaders and innovators in the field.
We passionate about the quality of our programs, and we are also known for our friendly, collegial culture. We invest significant resources into resident and fellow wellness. These efforts span from peer support programs, after hours snacks, sporting events, happy hours, and other organized social outings, and we encourage our fellows to participate!
