PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency

About Our Program

The Post Graduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) builds upon Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists. Residents are trained to be responsible for medication-related care for patients with a wide range of conditions, become eligible for board certification, and pursue postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

Upon successful completion of the program, residents will have achieved the following core competencies in the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency:

  • Patient Care
  • Advancing Practice and Improving Patient Care
  • Leadership and Management
  • Teaching, Education, and Dissemination of Knowledge

BIDMC offers a dynamic environment for training with a focus on these competencies, helping residents advance in their careers as clinical pharmacists or pursue specialized areas of practice.
