PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency
About Our Program
The PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Ambulatory Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) helps graduates of PGY1 programs become experts in caring for ambulatory (outpatient) patients. This year-long program offers advanced training, allowing residents to manage complex medication therapies and work closely with healthcare teams.
After completing the program, residents will:
- Be experts on medications for outpatient care.
- Provide effective, evidence-based treatment for both chronic and acute illnesses.
- Show leadership and management skills in the healthcare setting.
- Promote health improvement, wellness, and disease prevention.
- Excel in teaching healthcare professionals and students.
- Set up collaborative ambulatory care practices with other healthcare providers.
Residents work in more than 15 ambulatory clinics across BIDMC, tailoring their experience to meet their professional goals. The residency offers a stipend of $63,000, about 30 days of paid time off (PTO), and benefits like health insurance and discounts on transportation. The program also covers costs for attending one major professional meeting.
How many positions are available at BIDMC?
There is one PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy resident spot. BIDMC also has other residency programs, including four PGY1 residents, two PGY2 Critical Care residents, two PGY2 Infectious Disease/Antimicrobial Stewardship residents, and one PGY2 Cardiology resident.
