About the Cardiology Pharmacy Residency Program

The PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Cardiology at BIDMC is designed to transition PGY1 residency graduates from generalist practice to specialized practice focused on the care of cardiac patients. Upon successful completion of the program, residents will have achieved the following required educational outcomes, goals, and objectives for the PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Cardiology:

  • Optimize the outcomes of cardiac patients by providing evidence-based medication therapy as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Serve as an authoritative resource on the optimal use of medications in cardiac patients
  • Provide efficient, effective, evidence-based, patient-centered treatment for chronic and/or acute illnesses in all degrees of complexity
  • Demonstrate leadership and practice management skills
  • Demonstrate excellence in the provision of training or educational activities for health care professionals and health care professionals in training
  • Perform quality improvement activities aimed at enhancing the safety and effectiveness of medication-use processes in the cardiology area

How many positions are available at BIDMC?

There is one PGY2 Cardiology resident. Other BIDMC residency programs include four PGY1 residents, two PGY2 Critical Care residents, two PGY2 Infectious Disease/Antimicrobial Stewardship residents, one PGY2 Oncology resident, and one PGY2 Ambulatory Care resident.
