PGY2 Oncology Residency

About the Oncology Residency Program 

The BIDMC PGY2 in Oncology provides the resident the opportunity to gain foundational knowledge and skills important for a specialized practice in hematology/oncology pharmacy. The program offers a diverse set of opportunities aimed at preparing the resident for a range of careers within the hematology/oncology landscape. Residents who complete the PGY2 oncology pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification. Upon successful completion of the program, residents will have achieved the following required educational outcomes, goals, and objectives for the PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Oncology: 

  • In collaboration with the health care team, provide comprehensive medication management to oncology patients following a consistent patient care process 

  • Demonstrate ability to manage formulary and medication-use processes for oncology patients 

  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills for successful self-development in the provision of care for oncology patients 

  • Provide effective medication and practice-related education to oncology patients, caregivers, health care professionals, students, and the public 

  • Appropriately manage oncology investigational drugs and oncology investigational drug services 

How many residency positions are available at BIDMC? 

There is one PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy resident position. Other BIDMC residency programs include four PGY1 residents, two PGY2 Critical Care residents, two PGY2 Infectious Disease/Antimicrobial Stewardship residents, and one PGY2 Ambulatory Care resident.
