Pathways to Research Initiative

The Pathways to Research Initiative is a program developed and managed by the BIDMC Office of Student Engagement and Experience, in collaboration with the BIDMC Volunteer Office and BILH Workforce Development Offices. This program is designed to provide a structured pathway to connect students from BIDMC Volunteer and BILH Workforce Development student programs with research opportunities at BIDMC.

This program is part of BIDMC Office of Student Engagement and Experience (OSEE) Streamlined Research Partnerships Initiative.

Official Program Dates: June 9th, 2025- August 1st, 2025

  1. OSEE collects project opportunities for program application link from Principal Investigators via Project Intake Form- OSEE Streamlined Partnerships Initiative
    • Pathways to Research program can be selected in the Intake Form
  1. BIDMC Volunteer and Workforce Development contacts send student application link to current students and alumni that have participated as a BIDMC Student Volunteer, and/or have taken part in either the Agress Summer Health Corps or Summer Youth Jobs program
  1. Students apply by selecting projects of interest from the Form, and sending their CV to Ethan Selinger, Program Director for the BIDMC Office of Student Engagement and Experience (OSEE)
  1. OSEE sends student’s CV and statement of interest to each PI
  1. If student is selected, PI/departmental contact communicates offer to OSEE
  1. OSEE sends offer letter to student using official offer letter template
  1. Once student returns signed offer letter, student is onboarded via OSEE Streamlined Research Partnerships Initiative onboarding process flow
  1. OSEE tracks acceptances, oversees onboarding processes, and oversees arrival logistics
