Opting into and using the BILH Research Student Interest Database

The Research Student Interest Database is a resource built and managed by the Office of Student Engagement and Experience. The database has been designed to connect BILH researchers with students interested in learning more about, and finding, opportunities for research as they pursue their academic degrees.

The database breaks down student interest requests by students’ academic level, background, and interest areas.

Any questions about the information in this document should be sent to the Office of Student Engagement and Experience at osee@bilh.org

Using the Database to find candidates

Once you have been added by the OSEE to the database, you can begin using it to review student profiles:

  1. You can access the database under your list of REDCap projects

  1. Navigate to the record status dashboard on the left-hand panel

  1. To help organize your search, custom dashboards have been set up based on students identified interest area(s). These can be accessed by selecting the drop-down menu.

  1. Student profiles on the dashboard include the following information: Name, academic level, and interest area(s); students are able to select up to 3 interest areas
  2. When you select the students record, the data collection instrument screen will appear. Select the green check under status to pull up the full entry.

  1. The full-profile includes detailed information submitted by the student, including their academic institution, sub-areas of interest (if applicable), resume/CV, and a brief statement of interest amongst other information

  1. If you are interested in connecting with a student, please email them directly using their email address on file. If you plan to hire a student to conduct research, please inform the osee@bilh.org for our records and next steps!
