Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowships
About the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowships
The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, welcomes your interest in our clinical and research fellowship program. Over the past two decades, the field of cardiovascular medicine has seen remarkable advances, and our physician-scientists have been at the forefront, making significant contributions to saving lives and driving progress.
We offer fellows the opportunity to be part of breakthroughs in predictive medicine, molecular biology, translational research, new technologies, novel therapies, innovative care delivery systems, and outcomes research. Our program has produced many national leaders in both clinical and research cardiovascular medicine, and we are dedicated to fostering personal and intellectual growth for medical students, house staff, and fellows alike.
Training opportunities range from our general cardiology fellowship to advanced fellowships in cardiac electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, non-invasive imaging, heart failure, and basic and translational research. We invite you to explore our program and look forward to meeting you.
General Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship Program
The Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at BIDMC is a three-year, ACGME-accredited program that combines intensive clinical training and research to prepare fellows for leadership in academic medicine. The first two years focus on clinical cardiology, covering areas like cardiac consultation, advanced heart failure, catheterization, imaging, electrophysiology, and arrhythmias. The final year emphasizes research opportunities. The program fosters a supportive community, promotes work-life balance, and offers a paid parental leave policy, along with resources like physician health services and the Parent Connection for new parents.
Research Fellowship & Training Opportunities
The Cardiovascular Medicine Division offers comprehensive research training in basic, translational, and clinical fields, supported by the NHLBI-funded T-32 program. Fellows collaborate with top research groups, receive mentorship, and access cutting-edge facilities in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area.
Advanced Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowships
The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine offers specialized advanced fellowship training for individuals who have completed a general cardiovascular disease fellowship. These programs provide focused, hands-on experience in a variety of disciplines, including interventional cardiology, vascular medicine, clinical cardiac electrophysiology, cardio-oncology, advanced structural heart disease, and advanced cardiac imaging.
