About Our Fellowship Application Process

BIDMC's Division of General Medicine and Primary Care, Section of Palliative Medicine will be accepting applications for the Hospice Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program through ERAS. The application deadline is August 1. Interviews for invited applicants will be held in September. BIDMC participates in the National Residency Match Program.

Applications are holistically reviewed by our Selection Committee on a rolling basis starting in July. In particular, we are looking for your commitment to palliative care, as demonstrated by:

  • Experience rotating with hospice or palliative care teams
  • Teaching, scholarly work, and/or leadership
  • A strong narrative describing your interest in the field

Program Application Requirements

  • Dean's letter or MSPE from medical school
  • Medical school transcript
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your Residency
  • USMLE Step I, II, and III or COMLEX-equivalent board scores
  • Personal statement
  • Curriculum Vitae as submitted through ERAS

Program Overview

Our program prepares fellows to be hospice and palliative medicine clinician-leaders by providing a broad range of medical education and clinical experiences. Fellows will become members of multiple robust interdisciplinary teams, which care for diverse patient populations throughout the Boston area.
